Osher at Dartmouth Osher is a community for adults who enjoy learning, conversation, and connection. Curiosity is welcome here! to 12 p.m. once a week for six to eight sessions.

Our members come from many backgrounds and share a desire to stay intellectually engaged and socially connected. Members…regardless of age, academic background or college affiliation…can participate in year-round stimulating, provocative and intellectual activities and courses of their choosing. During the period of your selected course(s), you are allowed use of the renowned Dartmouth College Lib

raries. In addition, a series of day and overnight trips to historical and cultural locations is offered throughout the year. Plus, you’re sure to meet new friends during special academic and social events featured throughout the year. During July and August, there’s an intriguing lecture series focused on timely subjects by guest speakers from varied backgrounds. The summer lecture series attracts 600-700 participants every week and typically meets in Spaulding Auditorium, in the Hopkins Center, on Thursdays from 9 a.m. Previous series have included: "Terrorism," "China: The Next Super Power?," "Media in Crisis," "The Perilous Triangle: Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran," and "Corruption: Pervasive, Persistent, and Virulent."

Brandon Hill is a Machine Learning Research Scientist who Co-founded the Center for AI Research in Orthopaedics (CAIRO) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He has worked in machine learning and AI for over a decade now. Experienced in both research and in founding companies in Silicon Valley, he has kept a foot in both the academic and applied worlds. Brandon will be teaching "Doom or Miracle - The AI Revolution Exposed."

David Click will be teaching "American Eden: Landscape Painting 1825 to 1870" this fall! David moved to New London, New Hampshire in 2020 after spending 35 years as a tax attorney in government and private practice. David has taught several classes at Adventures in Learning at Colby Sawyer College on subjects ranging from classical music, art, and films. David has a Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California at Los Angeles, a Juris Doctor from the American University, Washington College of Law, and an LLM in Tax from Boston University Law School.

🍁📚 Join us on social media over the next week to welcome our new Study Leaders for Fall Term! 📚🍁

Marsha Campaniello will be teaching two classes this fall: "Answers Concerning the Value of Your Real Estate" and "Gardening Potential of a ¼-Acre With Permaculture." She was a NH Certified General Real Estate Appraiser for 20+ years for bank financing, tax abatement, eminent domain, estate planning, and conservation easements. In addition, after 30+ years of organic gardening, she transformed her quarter-acre property into thriving permaculture gardens using careful design and sustainable practices. She serves on the Board of Natural Burial NH, presents for OLLI, NOFA, and NH Herbal Network, and hosts garden tours and educational talks.

Margaret Caldwell will be leading a course this fall with the Hood Museum Docent Team! The Docent Team at the Hood come to their roles with a wealth of experience in both the art world and in education. Some of the docents are former curators, others worked in the art auction world, some are former educators. All are fully engaged in the effort to bring the art collection at the Hood to life through group discussion and personal discovery.

Study Leaders Alice Schori and Lynnwood Andrews have taught countless courses for us over the years, and we are so excited for them to kick off our Fall Term! “Fall Botany 2026” will begin by identifying the late-season characteristics of familiar trees, shrubs, and “weeds” using the growing season’s fruits, leaves, and remnants. Participants will also look out for fall wildflowers, especially goldenrods and asters.
