As a school, we are required to make public fire safety announcements throughout the school year. Therefore, this year, we will be posting these announcements here. We hope these safety announcements educate our students, parents, faculty and staff with important fire safety reminders! 🔥🧯🚒
BTA Public Fire Safety Announcement: Smoke Alarm and Carbon Monoxide Detector
Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors save lives, but many people live in homes without them. Hundreds of people, especially seniors, die from unintentional exposure to carbon monoxide, and thousands more die in house fires where there are no working smoke alarms. ESFI created this PSA to ensure that at-risk populations are aware of the various safety devices available and their requirements, including interconnected alarms and alternative smoke alarms for the hearing impaired. Learn how to keep your home and your family safe.

Congratulations to Officer Moore! 👮🏻🚔
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Award (School Heroes in Education, Leadership, and Defense) was established this year by the SRO Sergeants to recognize School Resource Officers who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty in service to their schools and communities.
This semester, we are proud to recognize Barry Tatum Academy SRO Deputy Julianne Moore as one of this year’s nominees.
Deputy Moore was selected by SRO Administration in recognition of her leadership and dedication to the students she serves. She recently completed the first-ever SRO-led Empowered Path Program, which graduated students who participated in learning valuable skills in anger management, conflict resolution, and positive decision-making.
Deputy Moore approaches her role with a proactive mindset, focusing on building relationships and mentoring students before problems arise rather than simply reacting to them. She consistently goes above and beyond, taking the time to invest in students who are in need of encouragement, guidance, and a positive role model.
Her professionalism, compassion, and commitment to helping young people succeed truly reflect the mission of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and the purpose of our School Resource Officer program.
At the end of the school year, one School Resource Officer from the four nominees selected this year will be recognized as the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office SRO of the Year.
Please join us in congratulating Deputy Moore and thanking her for the incredible work she is doing to positively impact the students at Barry Tatum Academy.
