We don’t encourage kids to compete in tournaments because every child needs a trophy.
We encourage it because kids need opportunities to experience pressure in a safe, supportive environment.
The nerves.
The crowd.
Being judged.
Making a mistake and continuing anyway.
Tournament day gives students a chance to practice staying focused when their heart is beating faster and things don’t feel comfortable.
That’s a skill they’ll need far beyond karate.
The goal isn’t to eliminate pressure from our kids’ lives.
It’s to help them discover: “I can feel overwhelmed and still do hard things.” 🥋
