Do you want to start your own robotics club? We love our club at West Elementary. Here are some ideas.
1 Ideas for starting a school robotics club?
Request administrator approval and seek out support.
2 What are the logistics—where, when, and for how long?
3 Do some research—talk to others who have had success.
4 Pick your Robotic Kits. We have found the Wonder Workshop Dash and Dot Robots to be the most economical and works for a large span of grades. We have those free on the Imagination Station STEAM bus but you may wish to expand the set later as your club grows.
5 Enlist fellow educators and parents to join and learn with you.
6 Decide what the robotics club membership fee will be. Factor in the cost of the club and if you will be providing snacks. Kids love snacks.
7 Find some students to take part—start with a small size and in the same grade the first year
8 Gauge members ability levels and interests and plan club activities.
9 Research competitions in your area. The Tennessee State Fair has had competitions for the past few years.
If you have more ideas, add them in the comment below.
