A few weeks ago, 4-H Extension Agent, Grace Harville and State 4-H VOLS Committee Member, Lisa Harville, presented a leadership workshop at the National 4-H Volunteer Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Georgia! The workshop was titled "4-H Leaders in Action: Developing Your 4-H Leadership Program". In this workshop, they highlighted the leadership opportunities we have in the Wilson and Smith County 4-H programs with in-school 4-H club officers and our counties’ 4-H Honor Club/Community Club along with region and state 4-H leadership programs. The workshop ended with a 4-H officer escape room for participants to enjoy. Grace and Lisa were two of five presenters from the state of Tennessee to be chosen to teach a workshop at this conference.

Several weeks ago, we had our first ever Healthy Living Club meeting! At this meeting, club participants learned more about what emotional wellness means and how to manage their emotions and stress. Participants made a "Happy Mural" where they drew pictures of activities they enjoy doing when stressed and homemade aromatherapy candles! Club members also got to take home a stress ball of their own!

4-H Horse Hippology & Horse Bowl practices for 2026-207 have been scheduled! At practices, 4-H members will learn how to identify colors, patterns, markings, equipment, feeds, nutrition, diseases, and much more. Knowledge is then put to the test at the regional competition through a written test and exam (Hippology) and a buzzer-style quiz bowl (Horse Bowl) contest. While this is a competition and youth are studying to learn and do well, they typically have a LOT of fun participating in activities and games to help them learn! Participation in this event requires a $15 fee. This fee covers the contest entry fee and a team shirt. This club is open to any 4th to 12th grader in Wilson County. Our latest edition of the 4-H Clover Leaf Chronicle has been added to our website at wilson.tennessee.edu! The 2026-2027 school year has started off with a bang! The Grill Master Challenge and Poultry Judging Contest were successful, and we are so proud of these youth. Please read the details about our 4-H Survey, take time to complete it, and share it with others in our community.

We have had a great time celebrating National 4-H Week with you all this week! Today, on Volunteer Appreciation Day, we recognize all of our county 4-H volunteers and the impact they make on our 4-H youth in Wilson County. Volunteers, we thank you so much for all you do for our Wilson County 4-H program! We would not be able to do what we do without you! Happy Volunteer Appreciation Day and Happy National 4-H Week!

Today is Giving Tuesday for National 4-H Week in Wilson County! We will be taking donations online for our county 4-H program starting at 8:00 AM CST.

The funds raised from the Giving Tuesday campaign will go towards educational trips, national judging team competitions, 4-H programming materials, and scholarships for 4-H camps and conferences.
