I'm going to go on a little rant with beauty within our live edge slabs. Often customers come in with a vision something they saw on social media, Pinterest or someone they know. The wheels are turning and they get inspired so they pop in here at ATG. So many not all but a lot of folk look at slabs and they have such a difficult time seeing past voids crack a spot that may have a soft spot etc. Its intimidating sometimes especially with us females we always want to look pretty some may dream to be the next big superstar bc they are so beautiful.

Well im here to say that some of the ugliest slabs become the most beautiful pieces. A show stopper, the holes and cracks tell a story. We had one of our repeat customers come back to shop for another piece for their home. Curly maple was really catching well her eye. I gave them a few minutes to wonder around with the water sprayer. I asked how they were doing and they said I think we found the perfect piece. Well because I got to work with them before I knew what you liked. I said to them actually I think if you see this piece you will fall in love with it. Here me out yes its ugly but the grain and the color will change your mind it will match perfect with your furniture. So I was saving a piece of Sycamore to work with bc I saw the beauty in it. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to make with it so as Charlie would say I am a wood hoarder and here we go with put it in the save it pile 👀😆 They ventured off to our other shop and Charlie showed them the piece and they said yes 🙌

So they agreed and trusted my judgement. They gave Charlie the dimensions they needed and the rest was all in my hands.

I have found that all ugly things are made by those who strive to make something beautiful, its almost the inner beauty coming out from this so called ugly piece of wood that mother nature had created now just a log that was turned into a live edge slab. This is where my passion comes in our visions collaborating at the end. All beautiful things are made by those who strive to make mother natures piece something nobody could see coming because of its flaws its just how today's world views things. Now that its finished into a piece of art a showpiece to last a lifetime or maybe until we need change all people/things change right?? Thats just life. Here is the before and after. If many have you followed for the last few months we worked with the first piece of elm . Elm has a very warm ton but the grain is what catches you eye. It has a soft elegant look. It took a few months to finish om the remodel for the camp i can see why a lot of detail and decision making. Well its finally complete and its stunning. The elm is certainly a focal point with the modern bold cabinetry. If we work hard enough I hope some day we can own something as beautiful as this. Work hard make your dream a reality. My parents taught me that and most of all be kind, help when you can and always stay honest ane true to yourself. Enjoy the rest of summer its slowly coming to a end.

Thats a wrap! One of our local businesses here in town inquired about a custom conference table. He had a vision of what he wanted. What a honor a proud moment to work with a local business. A wow moment we are finally getting on the map our hard work dedication is finally paying off. Charlie did some programing with some detailed CNC engraving, the customer requested jet black epoxy to fill the cracks and voids. The black helps pop out the amazing grain movement throughout the table. When visiting entering the conferences room this will certainly leave a first impression statement piece for customers and vendors. Lastly the final touch 👌 a modern style base from Flowyline Design really helps make this table pop!

Thank you to everyone who has followed us through this journey help spread the word and keeping it local. This is probably one of my favorite pieces of Ash that I've had the opportunity to work on from shaping it to resemble live edge softening the edges making it flow together sanding it finding the true beauty applying the finish then buffing it really helped bring that wavy grain.

Pretty soon it will be so difficult to find a slabs this large due to the ash bore. Ash trees are rotting very quickly.

Blanks will be 6-12" in diameter anywhere from 4-8ish deep
When all said and done your bowl should look 👇

Monster conference table is ready for the most exciting process of my job. Sanding 💪🙌 little by little watching the grain pop. The coloring and grain effect as you move up to the next grit. Here we go folks! Stay tuned for a jaw dropper
