The City of Leawood is inviting residents to help shape the future of safer travel throughout the community at the Safe Streets Leawood Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The open house will give residents an opportunity to learn more about the Safe Streets Leawood initiative, see what the City has learned so far and share feedback on ways to make Leawood streets safer for everyone — whether driving, walking, biking or rolling. Here are the details:

Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026
5–7 p.m.
Leawood City Hall – Oak Room
4800 Town Center Drive, Leawood, KS

The event will have an informal, self-paced format, so residents can stop by anytime between 5 and 7 p.m. (no formal presentation). City staff and members of the project team will be available to answer questions and discuss the project.

Attendees can explore displays highlighting:

Safe Streets Leawood project background and goals
Crash data and safety trends
High-injury corridors identified through the planning process
What the City has heard through community engagement so far
Most importantly, the open house is another opportunity for residents to help identify priorities for improving safety on Leawood streets. Interactive activities will allow attendees to weigh in on potential safety improvements and share their vision for walking, biking and rolling throughout the community.

Our 6th graders are officially kicking off their final year, and we couldn’t be more excited for all that’s ahead! A big THANK YOU to The Bessey’s for hosting our 6th grade morning donuts and walk. 🍩💙
