Last week an international pilot was visiting the KC area and wanted to get a little tailwheel practice in. So where does one take such a guest when they visit? We'd already done MCI, which always impresses -- especially when they learn we don't have to pay a landing fee every time we touch down.

So, this time we went to Roosterville International Airport (seriously: https://www.facebook.com/p/Roosterville-International-Airport-100067845284207/), because nothing says 'Merica like 20 feet wide asphalt and a 20-knot crosswind.

Tailwheel training naturally includes a lot of landings. *Lots* of landings. Some pilots measure the age of their tires in years; I measure mine in hours. Fortunately, I'm to the point where I can change the tailwheel tire in just a few minutes. Using grass runways can help, of course, but pavement has a training value, too.

And to be clear, training is worth it: I'll gladly burn through a stack of tires teaching pilots a new skill and getting them better at what they do. They become better pilots and I have fun doing it.

Speaking of which, it's time to go transfer more rubber to the runway...
