"Your retreat was exactly what I needed in life (although the zen has mostly worn off after returning to the chaos of my kids and puppy!). Stowel Lake Farm was heaven on earth, the food was a million times more spectacular than I could have imagined, and the company was so lovely." Jenny

Plan ahead now for a restful retreat next year....

September 2027 we return to Salt Spring Island, BC for our third annual retreat at Stowel Lake Farm

Here's what previous guests have said afterwards:

"The food was exceptional, so delicious and creative," said Jan Evans (75), who described the week as "restoration" and "being at peace with myself and the world."

"Your retreat was exactly what I needed in life," said Jenny. "Stowel Lake Farm was heaven on earth."

"In the opening and closing circles, you did a marvelous job -- using kind and generous words and instructions -- to help us all understand (and practice!) how to keep our perspectives both compact and meaningful."

If you're ready to join us you'll find a link in the bio for your $500 deposit. Many guests are returning for their second or third year, this retreat is expected to book out.

As always, if you have any questions please send me an email at [email protected]

"I enjoyed many deep intergenerational conversations during meals and at other times; there were always people to talk to if you wanted company, but also space to be silent.” Chris M
This is true of so many of my retreats but especially at Stowel Lake Farm where we'll return September 2-7, 2027. Join us for quiet.... or for company!

BUCKET LIST ALERT! Join us in Bali for a trip of an unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
There is still space in my upcoming Yoga + Travel Experience in bali. It runs from November 1st to November 8th. Will you be joining us? You'll be introduced to the culture, customs and food by locals with kind hearts and deep caring.

Kind words from a 2024 participant (the last time we were there)

“My time in Bali was freeing, beautiful, and absolutely soul-filling. The island is a wild juxtaposition, raw and breathtaking at the same time. As quickly as it creates little cracks within you, it also fills them in the most unexpected ways.

The experience itself was made even more special by being guided by you and Reinier. You never had to worry about a thing; everything was taken care of with such calmness and presence that it allowed us to fully immerse ourselves.

Of course, there were a few quirks to Bali - stray dogs that steal your heart, big bugs, and the sticky clothes that come with the heat - but those things just add to the adventure and the story.

Would I recommend this yoga retreat to others? Absolutely. This is a journey like no other, perfect for anyone looking to reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way.

Would I return? Yes, 100 percent -can we go now?"

You'll find more details on my website www.joannadunn.com or you can email me directly with any questions you may have [email protected]

"I am still aglow and atingle from the retreat. I will thank you over and over again for the openings and offerings you shared. I could not have imagined the layers of nourishment the retreat provided -- all with you, your grace, your thoughtful consideration, and your warm, playful, down-to-earth presence at the center. "

The retreat was enjoyed by many and I've already booked for September 2-7, 2027. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be posting a handful of the wonderful reviews I received from participants. If you are interested in booking for next year, you'll find all of the retreat details on my website www.joannadunn.com or follow the link in the bio.

Hi, I'm Joanna - welcome!

With a few new followers, it seems a good time to re-introduce myself.

I've been teaching yoga since 2001. I teach Vinyasa, Alignment-Based Hatha, Yin, Restorative, as well as somatic movement and meditation from my home base in Leavenworth, Washington, to retreats around the world.

My own practice draws on traditional yoga, Buddhist-influenced mindfulness meditation and somatic movement in the tradition of Feldenkrais and Thomas Hanna. I'm also a neuroscience and anatomy nerd.

You can expect classes that slow things down. You'll be invited to get curious. You'll be invited to sense and feel. There will be no rushing and you'll be invited to move at your own pace. It's not your usual yoga class!

Off the mat, I'm usually out walking and hiking, skiing, or cycling. I love to travel nearby and far away, exploring the beauty of nature as well as cultures abroad.
Glad you're here, say hello, I'd love to hear about your yoga practice and if you have any questions my inbox is always open [email protected]

Who goes on my retreats? What if I’m a beginner or out of shape?

I often get asked these questions before someone joins a retreat for the first time so I thought I'd just come right out and answer them here! Usually, these questions come from fear - maybe you're intimidated or shy or an introvert and worry that you won't fit in. You'll find we're a friendly, accessible community who welcomes newcomers and widens the circle to include all.

Still, here are the answers!

Everyone 18 years and older is welcome on my retreats and children 16-18 with an adult family member are welcome.

Historically, the youngest person to come on a retreat has been in her mid-20s and the oldest has been 80. I've had people with zero yoga experience attend retreats and people with decades of experience as well as professional yoga teachers.

The commonality of all participants is that they are curious and open. My style is slower paced with attention to building body awareness through alignment and sensation.

A goal is to offer something for everyone and to offer ways to modify poses to make them easier or more challenging for different abilities. If you are out of shape, a week-long retreat may be a great challenge to inspire you to get moving for the sake of your health - body, mind and spirit!

Still have reservations? Reach out - I'd love to chat with you about your concerns.

Two classes left!!

Two classes left!!

Your nervous system has been asking for this.

Deep Release: Yin + Somatics has been such a soft place to land these past few weeks. Slow movement, long holds, and the kind of stillness that actually lets your body catch up with you. We're down to the final two sessions, and a few spots are left in each.

Each class pairs gentle somatic movement with longer-held yin poses to release tension in the fascial layer: the deep connective tissue that holds patterns your muscles can't let go of on their own. Every session closes with a generous restorative savasana to let everything integrate. Especially supportive if you're feeling overstretched, tired, stressed, or simply in need of some quiet space to listen inward.

Deep Release: Yin + Somatics with Joanna Dunn
▸▸ Thursday evenings, Aug 6 & Aug 13
▸▸ 6:00 – 7:15 PM
▸▸ Non-heated. Beginner friendly.

Come to one, come to both. Drop-ins are welcome and it's included with your membership. A slow, intentional unraveling you can feel long after you leave the mat.

Link in bio to reserve. 🤍
