Join Purdue Extension and Midwest Beef Cattle Consultants for an educational afternoon focused on using visual evaluation and genomic testing data to make informed beef replacement heifer selection decisions at the Beef Replacement Heifer Selection program.

Live animal evaluation.
Understanding commercial heifer genomic testing and selection indexes.

ALL 4-H youth are invited to join the Crawford County 4-H Tech Wizards 4-H Club on Tuesday, October 20th starting at 6:30 PM at the Crawford County Extension Office located at 527 W State Road 62 in Leavenworth We will be electing club officers, scheduling dates for the 2026-2027 4-H program year, and discussing topics for teen teachers during our lessons.

The National 4-H AI in Agriculture Challenge is open through November 16!

Participants will develop solutions, build their STEM and problem-solving skills, and learn about emerging technologies that are shaping the future of agriculture.
The project involves developing an idea and recording a pitch video on how AI can help solve a problem in agriculture.

🤝 Building Stronger Communities Through Collaboration!

Regional Health & Human Sciences Educator Veronica Portillo attended the Community Partners Meeting at the Community Foundation of Crawford County to share information about Purdue Extension and the many ways we serve our local communities!

During the meeting, Veronica highlighted Purdue Extension’s four key program areas:

🌱 Agriculture & Natural Resources
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 4-H Youth Development
❤️ Health & Human Sciences
🏘️ Community Development

She also shared information about the new County Advisory Council opportunity to begin next year, with a council being established in each county to help inform local Extension priorities, identify community needs, and strengthen programming.

🍎 Celebrating the Great Apple Crunch! 🍎

We had a great time celebrating the Great Apple Crunch with residents at Lincoln Hills English Apartments! Together, we made a delicious Apple-Oat Chippers recipe while learning about the many benefits of apples and discussing how there’s more to the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” 🍏

Residents got hands-on experience making the recipe with fresh apples and even got to take apples home so they could recreate the recipe and enjoy it again!

A special thank you to Applacres for their generous donation of apples that helped make this program possible! Your generosity helped us bring nutrition education to life while giving residents the opportunity to enjoy apples both during and after our program. ❤️
