Construction students are learning about bulkheads and wall and Symons forms, which are fundamental to understanding structural concrete placement. A bulkhead is a temporary or permanent partition built inside or at the end of a wall form. Concrete wall forms are temporary structural molds designed to hold wet concrete in place and support its immense lateral (sidewalk) pressure until it cures and gains strength. Symons Steel-Ply is the industry-standard modular concrete forming system. It consists of lightweight, factory-built frames featuring high-strength steel outer edges and a durable plywood face.

New culinary students visited Shatto Milk Company , where they brought back whole milk to make ice cream. Each team created their own flavored milks using all-natural ingredients—without any artificial dyes or flavorings. The flavors included strawberry, coffee, root b**r, vanilla, banana, and chocolate. Additionally, one team made a cherry sauce to accompany their vanilla ice cream. Each team named their dessert and plated it accordingly.

The United Way of Leavenworth County is kicking off its campaign with the slogan, "United is the Way." KCKCC Pioneer Career Center will be involved in the campaign again this year. KCKCC Pioneer Career Center will raffle off a reserved parking spot for the Fall '26 semester, fundraise with Walking Tacos in October, and raffle off a reserved parking spot for the Spring '27 semester. Culinary Arts students visited Shatto Milk Company to observe the entire milk production process. They also purchased whole milk to bring back to class, where they will make their own flavored milks and create unique signature ice cream dishes.

The Culinary students made fresh breakfast items this week in the Culinary Arts Café. Students, faculty, and staff were able to purchase items from the Culinary students, who practiced their customer service and cash-handling skills.

Electrical students are currently learning how to use a manual conduit bender. They are mastering the skills needed for precise measurements, understanding bender head markings, and applying the proper techniques for foot and arm leverage. Some common types of bends they are practicing include the stub-up (90-degree bend), offset bend (30-degree bend), back-to-back bend, and box offset.

Students, faculty, and staff at KCKCC celebrated the beginning of the Fall '26 semester with a Kick-off Celebration. Attendees enjoyed delicious burgers and hot dogs provided by Chris Cakes, and there were activities such as an airbrush tattoo artist and a caricature artist with Fun Services of Kc LLC for everyone to enjoy. Additionally, representatives from the League of Women Voters Leavenworth County attended to educate students about the importance of voting.

Construction students are learning to use a total station, an instrument for surveying and building construction. It measures vertical and horizontal angles, as well as the slope distance to a specific point. To calculate a concrete grade, students find a benchmark, set up the instrument, calculate target elevations, and account for slope and thickness.
