Sensory Sunday’s and Sensory backpacks are back at Science City! Check it out!

Science City has partnered with Variety Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City and now has special Sensory Backpacks available for checkout by guests visiting the science center. The backpacks include a weighted blanket, sunglasses, a noise-canceling headset, and fidget toys.

Additionally, Sensory Sundays are returning to Science City, with our next Sensory Sunday being October 23 from 10am to 11:30am. This time is aimed at providing a more welcoming space for our guests on the Autism spectrum and those with sensory sensitivities. Sound effects will be turned off, and there will be only minimal lighting effects. Special sensory-friendly activities will be available, and there will be designated quiet areas. At 11:30 am, our staff will begin turning on Science City's regular noises, lights, and attractions, ready for opening to the general public at 12:00 pm.

Those attending in the morning will be welcome to stay throughout the day until close at 5:00pm.

Please note: Entrance to Science City for Sensory Sunday will be via the portal located on Union Station's B Level between the Planetarium and Extreme Screen Theatre. Entering via the portal also avoids Science City's Halloween decorations and animatronics.
