The words well and good are often misused. Well is used as an adverb, unless used as an adjective, meaning healthy. Good is an adjective used to describe nouns or pronouns. Example: Brandy is a good cook; The boys had a good time at the park. Marvin did well on the Milestone test; Mom did not feel well yesterday.

Negatives are words that mean not, such as not, never, no, none, don't, etc. It is incorrect to use two negatives in a sentence. It's called double negatives. They cancel each other out. Incorrect: We don't never do anything exciting. Correct: We never do anything exciting. Incorrect: I don't have no money. Correct: I don't have any money. Incorrect: Without Him we can't do nothing. Correct: Without Him we can't do anything.

Subjects and verbs must agree. If the subject is plural, a plural verb must be used, and if the subject is singular, a singular verb must be used. Ex. Plural subject and verb. The boys were very well behaved. Boys is the subject and were is the verb (or predicate). Example for singular subject and verb: A bird was in the bush. Bird is the subject and was is the verb.

Happy New Year! Please remember that there is a difference between the words "no" and "know". Know means to have knowledge of or to be aware of. Ex. Some people don't know how to accept criticism. The word no means not at all, or the opposite of yes. Ex. There is no soap in the dispenser. Ex. No, you may not ask another question.

The words know and no are homonyms. Know means to have knowledge of; to understand, or to be aware of the truth. Ex: I know all of the fifty states and capitals. Ex: I don't know the name of that school.
The word no means in a way that shows a negative response; not so; or the opposite of yes. Ex: There is no way for me to attend the meeting today. Ex: No, you are not going to wear that dress!
Because they sound alike, people often confuse the two.
