Pedal steel's more complicated (with regards to size and set-up time) than our other instruments, so our pedal steel lessons are longer and cost more than the rest of our offerings. I’ve been spending most of my time on this instrument focusing on trying to make generally graceful sounds. About one week ago I began extending a lot more energy towards trying to clean things up and gain some speed. Here’s a take on “Highway 40 Blues” that I hope to look back on in one year and think “how embarrassing that you ever thought that was clean enough to share!” 😂 • Tonight I will play nothing like this at Hole in the Wall with @twin.truth. The Bee's Knees and Insert Band Name Here are playing at Firewater Sports Bar Cafe in Cedar Park from 8:00-10:15pm - all ages, no cover.

Featuring music by bands like Nirvana, Cake, INXS, The Black Keys, Green Day and more, along with a three-song tribute set to local band Vallejo.

We have exciting news to share! After many wonderful years as Sense & Color, we are officially changing our name.

Sense & Color is becoming Vivid School of Music!

Why the change?
-----------------------

The name Sense & Color (from a Grateful Dead song lyric) originated 15+ years ago, back when we were working with local jambands. The name stuck when we started teaching music lessons out of our home, and the rest is ancient history.

The name served us well, but it’s 2026 and time for a name that matches the vibe of our school! The name Vivid is short, memorable, and easy to spell, and it captures everything we strive for: bold, bright, eager, and artistic. Just like what we see in our students every day!

What does this mean for our students?

Nothing’s changing except the name!

We’re still the exact same small local business with the same owner, same awesome staff, same location, same quality teachers, same client portal, same rockin’ band program with Band Director Todd, same friendly service from Amy & Gwen via our text inbox.

Our new website will be vividmusicschool.com. Right now, that just redirects to our old site, but we’ll let y'all know when it’s time to update your bookmarks.
