It was a real treat to have Doug Martin of Central Texas Cherokee Township as an exhibitor and storyteller at Leander Legacy: Honoring Aptzāi Pil’ on July 21. We are grateful to him for volunteering his time and sharing his knowledge of Texas history and Cherokee culture. One of the many things he shared with those who stopped at his booth or heard him speak during our community gathering time was about traditional Cherokee games. One of those games is Chunkey. In the video below, Cherokee National History Museum interpreter Daniel McCarter explains the game.

Thank you to North Shore District for exhibiting at our July 21 symposium. Your booth, "Native Traditions Guiding Scouts through the Indian Lore Merit Badge" and the information you shared was engaging and informative. We all benefitted from your participation in our event. Many may have learned for the first time yesterday that the Native American way of life has been part of scouting since it began in the US.

The awesome wonderful presenters and performers at our July 21 symposium. The feedback I've received from attendees includes "very special," "life changing," "consciousness raising," and "beautiful," as well as a flood of other positive sentiment and questions, such as "When are we doing this again?" and "How can I get involved?" My heart is full.

At the end of the symposium, those of us who were still hanging around and visiting gathered for a group photo in front of the ACC River Bats logo. Thank you, friends, for sharing all of your beautiful photos from that day. What a great group of people.
