๐ Preparing Your Preschooler for a Great Start! ๐
Starting preschool is a BIG milestoneโfor both children and parents! ๐ฅนโจ Here are a few simple ways to help make the transition a little smoother:
๐ฃ๏ธ Talk about school positively โ Talk about their teachers, friends, classroom, and all the fun things theyโll get to do. Remind them that youโll always come back to pick them up!
๐ค Keep a consistent sleep schedule โ A well-rested child is ready for a big day of learning, playing, and growing!
๐ Practice a school-day meal routine โ We typically have lunch around 11:00 AM during preschool. If your child is used to eating around this time, practicing a similar schedule at home can help them adjust to the rhythm of their school day.
โค๏ธ Keep goodbyes short & confident โ A calm, confident goodbye helps your child feel secure. Give those hugs and kisses, remind them youโll be back, and head out. And as hard as it can be, try not to sneak away!
๐ Practice independence โ Let your child practice things like taking off their backpack, washing their hands, using the bathroom, opening their lunch/snack containers, and cleaning up toys. Those little skills make a BIG difference!
๐ Choose school-friendly clothing โ Comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy for your child to manage will help them feel more independent throughout the day. And donโt forget an extra change of clothes!
๐ง Talk about the routine โ Help your child know what to expect: โWeโll go to school, youโll play with your friends, have lunch, chapel time, and then Iโll come back for you!โ Knowing what comes next can help ease those first-day nerves.
Most importantly, give your child time to adjust. Every child is different, and itโs completely normal for the transition to take some time. Some children walk in like they own the place, while others need a few extra days of hugs and reassurance. ๐
Weโre here to make those first daysโand every day afterโfeel safe, positive, fun, and full of learning! โจ๐๐๏ธ
