Not saying I'm a genius or anything special. But ten years or so ago I had several conversations with fellow teacher about the future of music. I was asked what I thought the future might look like and I said, "Given that the 12 tone scale has been depleted, the only thing left is micro tones (the spaces in-between notes on our current tunning system). So what does that mean?
Well; when you tune a piano or guitar for example, there is a range of frequencies/notes that exist inbetween a note being sharp or flat. That means those are notes that aren't being explored or used right now. I can invision a future in which someone starts building a whole new vocabulary of chords and harmonies based upon those 'unused notes' and create a musical movement." [paraphrasing myself]

Well there is a Canadian band making some waves in music circles because they are doing just that:

"Angine de Poitrine"

Now, is this band going to be the next big break through? That I don't know, I think for it to be a break through someone will have to use this is a way that creates some break out track(s) in clubs and the music charts. But hey, who knows. I'm finding it fascinating that I was correct in this conversation from some years ago when those around me perhaps thought perhaps I was off my rocker.

At Abundant Life Christian Center watching their Easter Show. There is great family history associated with the writing and production of their Easter Special.
Thank you to River for inviting me and my son to come to their production this evening.

Easter is a great time to begin a conversation with a child about The Passion of Christ. Albeit toned down in a manner that is easier to understand without the graphic detail.The larger picture is something that can be taught/discussed as they grow older.

Aabundant Life Christian Center did a really good job this evening at putting together a production that is kid friendly while touching on the broader story/meaning.

Rock n Classics Attending and performing at event of "A Day of Music". Many great memories this past weekend with students, teachers and new friends!

Our students worked really, really hard for this event and your support moved mountains!

One of the many highlights included attending Song Writers Workshop and then watch them perform later that evening.
What a magical day!

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event, as well thank you to all of the teachers and parents that put in the extra time for extra rehearsals to make this such a grand event for League City as well as Rock n Classics Music School.
