If you know The Daves or South Shore Montessori, you know we have always believed that when someone in our community is hurting, we come together. Throughout the years, we have been blessed to help families during difficult seasons whenever we could. Today, we are humbly asking for that same kindness to be extended to one of our own.

Our beloved Miss Karen has experienced an unimaginable loss. Within just ten days, she lost both her husband and her daughter. As she grieves these heartbreaking losses, she is also stepping into the role of providing for and caring for her grandson.

Miss Karen has been a cherished member of the South Shore Montessori family for the past nine years and has dedicated more than 40 years of her life to educating and loving children. If you know Karen, you know her heart. She is one of the most selfless, compassionate, and giving people you could ever meet. She has spent decades pouring into others, asking for nothing in return.

Now, it is our turn to pour into her.

We are asking our friends, families, and community to help in any way they can. Whether you purchase raffle tickets, attend our spaghetti dinner fundraiser, make a donation, or simply share her story, every act of kindness will make a difference. Together, we can help ease the financial burden she is carrying and remind her that she is not walking through this journey alone.

Thank you for helping us surround Miss Karen with the same love, compassion, and generosity she has so freely given to so many others over the years.

As the end of May rushed right by us, we now find ourselves stepping into June, and what an incredible wrap to the school year it has been. I want to sincerely thank all of our families for partnering with us this year, and for many of you, through many years past and hopefully many years ahead. Your commitment to our school, our community, and the Montessori method is deeply valued and truly appreciated.

I would also like to share the graduation link with everyone. It was officially our last “super long” graduation ceremony, lol! Moving forward, we will likely separate our awards ceremony onto a different evening so that we can continue honoring every child while also being mindful of the length of the event for our families.

Even so, this evening remains such a special tradition for our community, a time for us all to come together, celebrate growth, reflect on memories, and honor the incredible accomplishments of our students. I know the children absolutely loved sharing their music, performances, and memories with each and every person who came to support them that evening.

Here’s to the final extra long graduation ceremony, and we truly hope it was a meaningful and enjoyable experience for everyone who attended. Late post: closing out teacher appreciation week! Friday was our final day of Teacher Appreciation Week, and we wrapped up the celebration with personalized bags with reminders of all the wonderful things our teachers are, beautiful leather journals, and Montessori Guide shirts!

Our team enjoyed donuts and kolaches for breakfast, followed by Chicken Express and all the fixings for lunch.

It has truly been an incredible week honoring the beautiful hearts of our teachers and moms as we celebrated both Teacher Appreciation Week and Mother’s Day. We are endlessly grateful for the love, guidance, patience, and joy they pour into our children every single day. Our school community is better because of each of you! 🤍

A little late posting, but yesterday was Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation Week and it absolutely blew us away with memories we will cherish forever. 💙✨

Yesterday we celebrated our teachers with personalized water bottles and teacher keychains, along with shirts reminding them they are “helping tiny humans do big things.” 🌎🍎

Each teacher also received a special apple filled with inspiration, encouragement, and everyone’s favorite surprise, a crisp $100 bill because sometimes cold hard cash truly is the love language teachers appreciate most! ❤️💵

Their teacher appreciation bags were packed with fun and practical goodies including chapstick, hand sanitizer, makeup bags, pens, and notebooks because honestly, can a teacher ever have too many journals or notebooks? ✏️📚

We kicked off the morning with a delicious yogurt bar from McAlister’s, fresh squeezed orange juice, and later enjoyed the most hearty southern lunch from Cracker Barrel complete with pot roast, grilled chicken, and all the comforting fixings. 🍊🥘

But the sweetest part of the day was celebrating alongside our beautiful moms and precious students during our Mother’s Day event. We shared ice cream treats, dance parties, playtime, and one of the most meaningful moments of all, our Bloom Cart where children helped create personalized bouquets for their mothers filled with blooms and love. 🌸🍦💐

It was truly priceless and by far one of our favorite days yet. Thank you to our incredible families for helping us pour love back into the teachers and mothers who give so much of themselves every single day. 💕
