Connecting with autistic children through everyday interactions

06/19/2026

I’m so thankful to all the mentors that have shaped my craft.

I encourage every professional to seek wisdom from professionals who are further along the way and will teach you something new. Knowledge is gained across the lifespan and can’t ever be taken away from you.

I continue to work hard each week to get better and better for the children and families I get to support!

Let’s talk about special education classrooms and how you can use a relationship based approach with students!

If you are an educator, give me feedback on where you need support

I’m happy to openly share my work with the world! I realize there are many people who don’t appreciate me or my perspectives.

That will never stop me from showing others how to play, connect and share joy with autistic children.

I’m doing my part to bring connection into public schools! Next I’m going to talk about ways to connect with autistic kids in the classroom!

When an autistic child is self involved with toys they aren’t learning. Social play is the best way to support development. You watching the child play with toys and talking about what they are doing is not social! It has to be interactive.

Save independent toy play for when you need the child to be occupied.

Toys are great when a child has the capacity to engage with you AND the toy!

If you are still using toys in your therapy sessions with autistic children make sure to check out this study and practice connecting through movement instead!

This study was published in November 2024

Learning can happen naturally when you meet the child where they are, connect with them socially, and share joy together!

Family intensives are a 4-day in person experience with me where I teach you everything about your child’s development and show you how to connect with purpose. Then after you leave, I support you virtually so you have support every step of the way!

I know there is a lot of debate with the NLA framework for gestalt language processors.

In Greenspan Floortime this is how we support kids who use echolalia and scripts to become conversational!
