We put a mural in one of Monette’s storm shelters! Our BIC JH EAST classes have been working all year (using a Meta Quest 3) to add some fun murals to the storm shelters in Monette and Leachville. We finished our first one today—MAC the Mustang is now in the Monette city park storm shelter. We hope he will bring some comfort and encouragement to any kids who visit that storm shelter soon, and we hope to paint in the other shelters at some point too!

Day 3 of EAST Conference—we finished strong! Our booth continued to stay busy all day. We had two students given “Difference Maker” pins, and we were given the Judges Choice Award for our showcase presentation. I am so proud of this conference team and all their hard work, and it helped that we had strong projects to share. Great job to everyone in our BIC JH program!

Our BIC JH EAST students presented to the Monette City Council last night about a project! These students proposed that our EAST classes paint interactive murals in the storm shelters to make the spaces more comforting and to give kids something to look at during the storms to distract them and help their stress. The council approved the project so we are moving forward!
