Please read the Program Overview

CHC is a welcoming, collaborative, in-person homeschool co-op focused on hands-on learning, creative projects, socialization, and community connection in a supportive, non-religious environment. We meet at McKenzie Bible Fellowship Church along the beautiful McKenzie River. Families come together for parent-led activities, guest artists, and engaging thematic units. This is not a drop-off program—parents/guardians must stay on site and remain responsible for their children at all times.

Schedule for 2026–2027
We run two 12-week semesters:

Fall: September 14 – November 30, 2026 (Mondays)
Spring: March 8 – May 24, 2027 (Mondays)
Meetings are held weekly on Mondays. The first four weeks of fall (weather permitting) are outdoors at Lloyd Knox Park in Walterville; otherwise, we’re indoors at the church. There may also be informal meetups during summer and winter breaks.

A typical Monday looks like this:

10:00 AM: Arrival & setup / free play
10:30–11:30 AM: Morning activities (crafts, games, or PE — often split by age)
11:30 AM–12:15 PM: Lunch & socialization
12:15–1:45 PM: Focused lesson/project (may be split by age)
1:45–2:00 PM: Group clean-up and community chores
Each semester includes three 4-week thematic units. This year’s themes include Native American and local history (with Singing Creek Education Center), science/chemistry, arts residency with Lane Arts Council, civics, music (history & theory), and waterways/riparian animal studies.

We use the BAND app for all communication, calendars, RSVPs, and planning.

FAQS

-How often do kids meet and when?
Weekly on Mondays during the two 12-week semesters listed above (24 meetings total per year).

-Can infants and preschoolers attend?
Yes, younger siblings (including infants) are welcome with continual parent supervision. Children age 4 and under remain the full responsibility of a parent/guardian at all times. No special preschool programming is currently offered, but some activities may be open to them depending on age and skill level.

-What are the fees?
Early registration (before August 14, 2026): $100 per family membership fee (non-refundable) + $50 supply fee per school-age (K–12) child.
No supply fee for children age 4 and younger.
Late registration (after Aug 14) prorates the membership fee at $5 per remaining session.
Fees support insurance, admin costs, supplies, materials, and special events. Field trips or certain events may have additional costs.

-What are the expectations for parents?
We operate with strong parent involvement:
1.Every family holds a club job (administrative, support, teaching, or creative roles) and helps with daily chores/clean-up.
New families typically start in a support role (being present and engaged to assist teachers and children).
2.Check the BAND app regularly and respond to communications promptly.
3.Practice respectful, open communication in case of any conflicts.
4.Maintain religious neutrality during club hours and respect all backgrounds.
5.Sign our Club Agreement and waivers at the first meeting.

-What kind of curriculum does the club use?
We focus on enrichment, socialization, and community service. Core academics remain the responsibility of each family at home.

Nature study is a big part of the CHC! Here are some photos of the kids working on their nature journals.

Collage is a great way for the younger kids to add color and creativity to their journals! Save your old magazines for this project 📒

Here is a good intro video to nature journaling if you’d like to explore how to start your own!

The Cascade Homeschool Club is accepting new homeschool enthusiasts! Registration is Open!

We’re excited to announce that registration for the Cascade Homeschool Club is now open for the 2026–2027 school year!

Early registration will remain open all summer through August 14. Because we are capping enrollment at 30 students, we encourage you to register soon to secure your spot.

This year promises to be our most engaging yet as we head into our third year of serving local homeschool families. We have wonderful experiences planned, including four-session visits from Singing Creek Educational Center and the Lane Arts Council, along with many meaningful parent-led contributions. Our club has become a warm and dynamic community where children form lasting friendships while learning and growing together.

Although our location is a bit more rural, many families find that gathering once a week feels like a joyful weekly outing. Our field trips also take us across our beautiful state, creating rich memories and learning opportunities for everyone.

We warmly invite you to join us for the upcoming school year! We’re always eager to welcome families who would like to contribute their skills, talents, or time to make our community even stronger.

👉You’ll find more detailed information in the registration form. If you have any questions that aren’t answered there, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help. Feel free to work through the registration form at your own pace and submit it whenever you’re ready.

A note about our new space:
We had a wonderful finish to last year at McKenzie Bible Fellowship Church. The new facility offers a spacious indoor meeting area for our full group, additional classrooms for age-specific breakout sessions, a full kitchen, a gymnasium, and a playground—making it an incredible blessing for our families. We’re looking forward to gathering there again this coming year.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in this special community. We truly look forward to another beautiful year of learning, connection, and alternative education together.

Please feel free to share this to your friends and family!
