Same lunch line. Different trays. Both can be reimbursable meals. 🥪
Students could choose chili, a cinnamon roll, steamed corn, shredded cheese, grapes, crackers, and milk, but they may leave the lunch line with a much simpler tray.
How can both trays qualify as reimbursable meals? Under the Offer versus Serve program, students have choices. They do not have to take every food offered. Instead, they can select from the available options while taking enough of the required meal components for their tray to qualify as a reimbursable school meal.
That means what ends up on a student’s tray may not show everything that was available to them that day. Our food service team offers a variety of nutritious choices, and students have a role in deciding what they select.
We offer the choices. Students build their trays. 🍽️
