The Science, Mathematics And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program has been established by the Department of Defense (DoD) to support undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The program aims to increase the number of civilian scientists and engineers working at DoD laboratories.
Participants in the SMART Scholarship for Service Program will receive full tuition and education related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking), a stipend paid at a rate of $25,000 - $38,000 depending on degree pursuing, access to summer research internships, mentoring, and other allowances and benefits including employment placement upon graduation.

Orientation & More is open to any incoming freshman student who wants to make a personal connection to college! Students will be given a comprehensive orientation session that includes workshops to support first-generation college students and their parents. A free dinner will also be served to the students and their parents. Fliers with additional in English and Spanish are attached.

Be there at 7:30 SHARP next Tuesday to get your answer sheet ready for test day! (If you have any questions ask your AP teacher or come to student services!)

We've been notified about a change in the criteria for the SUU Governor's Honors Academy Scholarship. The GPA requirement is now 3.6 and ACT score is 22 for a full tuition scholarship opportunity! The application deadline is now MARCH 30, 2015. Apply now- go for it!

Wildcat Welcome is next WEDNESDAY!!! We hope you are planning to join us- but in order for you to come for FREE on our bus you need to turn in a parent permission slip by MONDAY (you can pick one up in Student Services). Just a reminder that Wildcat Welcome is where you can claim your scholarship, visit Majorfest and learn about all the majors at WSU, and go to information sessions about how to pay for college, etc. We will leave NHS at 8:00 AM and be back by the end of tutorial. Come to Student Services if you have any questions- and get your permission slip turned in ASAP!

Scholarships will also be awarded on the spot (bring your official high school transcrips and ACT scores)! Northridge High School is participating in College Application Week-A week set aside for all seniors to have the opportunity to apply to college. Students will be assigned to a computer lab; and with the help of the counselors, be able to fill out college applications. To prepare for this event, seniors will be completing a survey and worksheet during their Advisory class on Thursday, November 6, with information that will be needed on the college applications. Please encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity. Application deadlines are coming. Now is the time to get the process started. Transcripts, regularly $2.00 each, will be free during this week to eligible students (students who have no outstanding fines or fees). Thanks for your support.

Utah Valley University will be holding an open house this Thursday, October 30, from 6-8 pm at the Davis Conference Center in Layton. At the open house, we will be having application fee waivers available to the first 150 students that apply that night. They will have laptops available at the conference center where students can apply. In order to apply, they are asking students to bring official transcripts with them to the open house. We are excited for this event!
