Utah Symphony is offering FREE 30-minute individual instrumental music lessons to students in public school orchestra and band classes – during the time period of March 8-19, 2021.  These will be virtual lessons, conducted over Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime (whichever works best for your student and our musician).

Requirements for this program:  students must have access to high quality internet (they may have to have their lessons in the school building), and an email address over which they can be invited to the digital meeting with their Utah Symphony musician.

Please forward this link to our Google Form to any of your students that you think may be interested in this program. We are requesting responses by Wednesday, March 3, 2021. (But this is not a hard deadline).

We will assign a Utah Symphony musician (based on instrument requested) to each student who signs up and will figure out between them the best time for their lesson.

We look forward to providing this exciting musical experience for your students!

For all my students doing the Sonata Competition.

1. Location: Choose a quiet, clean setting and be aware of your lighting. Make sure it isn't too bright or too dark.

2. Make appropriate clothing choices. Choose an outfit that looks professional and is not wrinkled or dirty.

3. Perform. Imagine yourself in front of a smiling audience and have fun!

4. Don’t leave your recordings for the last minute. Remember that it might take a few takes more than you anticipate, or you might have to deal with equipment problems. Give yourself extra time!

5. Submit before the deadline. Make sure you know when the deadline is, and give yourself plenty of time to submit in case you need to do any last-minute problem solving.
