The **Cameron University Music Department** hosted a FREE All-State Workshop, and our students had such a great time learning and preparing their music! 🎤🎼

It was wonderful to see our students working hard, learning from talented music educators and Cameron University students, and growing as musicians. We are so thankful for opportunities like this that help our students build confidence and prepare for the All-State process!

A HUGE **thank you** to Dr. Christian Morren, all of the wonderful teachers and Cameron University students who gave their time and talents to make this workshop such a success! 💚🎶

Our Scot Signature Sound Choir students are working hard all year long to prepare for All-Region, All-State, Show choir and we would love your help supporting them! 💚

What a blessing to be selected by my peers.

Today we are highlighting April Abraham, our new Southwest Regional Representative with OkCDA!

Read her bio below to learn more about all of the wonderful experience she is bringing to our organization. Welcome, April!

April Abraham is the Choir Director at MacArthur Middle and High
School, where she is passionate about helping students develop both musical excellence. She earned her Bachelor of Vocal Music Education from Cameron University and has completed all three levels of Kodály certification. She previously taught in Clinton Public Schools.

Under her direction, students have consistently earned Superior ratings at district and state vocal contests. Her students have also been selected to perform in National Honor Choirs through the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE). In addition to the choral program, her students actively
participate in show choir and school musical productions, providing opportunities to grow as confident performers and musicians.

In 2026, Mrs. Abraham was honored as a finalist for the Lawton Public Schools Secondary Teacher of the Year, recognizing her dedication to excellence in education and student achievement.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Abraham enjoys supporting her husband in his worship ministry at First Baptist Church in Lawton. She and her husband are the proud parents of three children—Josiah, Jeremiah, and Gabriela—who keep life full of joy, laughter, and adventure.

14 of our students took part in a three-day intensive All-State music training! 🎶 One of our high school students went even further, attending a fourth day that included All-State Jazz. Plus, three of our students won the talent show! We’re so proud of their hard work and dedication!

This week we have 14 students from MacArthur middle school choir and high school choir participating in the SNU All State Camp. They get first look and help on the music. It’s a great day to be a Highlander!
