🧸✨ PLAY IS LEARNING! ✨🧸

When you ask your Pre-K child what they did at school and they say, “I played!” — that’s a GREAT answer! 💛

Because in Pre-K, play is one of the most important ways children learn.

While they are building with blocks, dressing up, creating art, singing, dancing, running, pretending, digging, sorting, and playing with friends… their brains are BUSY! 🧠✨

Through play, children are learning to:

🗣️ Communicate – talking, listening, asking questions, and learning new words
🤝 Build friendships – sharing, taking turns, cooperating, and solving disagreements
💭 Use their imagination – creating stories, pretending, and thinking creatively
🧩 Solve problems – experimenting, making choices, and figuring out what works
🔢 Practice early math – counting, sorting, comparing, measuring, and recognizing patterns
📚 Develop early literacy skills – storytelling, recognizing letters and sounds, and building vocabulary
✋ Strengthen fine motor skills – drawing, cutting, building, squeezing, pinching, and manipulating small objects
🏃 Develop gross motor skills – running, jumping, climbing, balancing, throwing, and moving their bodies
🎨 Express themselves – through art, music, movement, dramatic play, and creativity
❤️ Build confidence and independence – trying new things, making decisions, and learning from mistakes
🧠 Practice self-control – waiting, following directions, taking turns, and managing emotions

So when you see our Pre-K students laughing, building, creating, pretending, moving, and exploring, remember…

They aren’t “just playing.”
They are learning how the world works, how to work with others, and how to believe in themselves. 🌎💕

In Pre-K, PLAY is their WORK — and learning is happening everywhere! 🧸🎨🎵🏃‍♀️🧩

Teachers are forever learners! Pre-K Teachers from New Horizons, Brockland Learning Center, Learning Tree Academy, and Freedom Elementary School spent the day soaking in all the knowledge from our friends at Region 9!

We also want to give a shout out to Billy Sims BBQ for giving us a great deal on sandwiches to feed our teachers and presenters!

LPS Families! Open House for all LPS Schools will be August 10th from 3:30 - 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to get to know their students teachers and see the school. We hope to see you there!

🩵🧡New Horizons Families, it’s time to check in!

Check In is happening in our Gym which is located on the south side of our building. This is also the same entrance we use for car line.

Please remember that parents/guardians of ALL students need to come to the school to check in.

To help speed up the process, please be sure to complete the online forms prior to coming.
