Credit 101: Recent late payments are the worst derogatory remarks you can have on your credit file. Especially if you are seeking funding. No one is going to lend to someone that has not shown themselves to be trust worthy to (re)pay a loan in a timely manner. Before you begin your journey to repairing your credit, make sure you are able to hold down the responsibilities of making payments on time; in other words... pay your bills on time.

Your credit file requires monitoring. Before choosing which monitoring system, know the difference between them. There are variations deeper than cost, each one offers something different. The two most common are Credit Karma and CreditCheckTotal. Credit Karma is FREE, reveals your Vantage scores and credit files from Equifax and TransUnion. Whereas CreditCheckTotal.com reveals ALL 3 of your FICO scores; although not free, for a relatively low cost (only $1 to start) it shows the most recent updated credit files from ALL three credit bureaus as well.
