Today’s drum lesson: placing the bass drum strokes on different subdivision.

He work on playing the bass drum strokes on 1 and 3; now he’s working on playing an extra 16th note on the “e” of 2. Once he gets that down pack; his next lesson is going to be: playing the same groove while playing the different subdivision on the hi-hat with the right hand like I’m doing. He’s a working progress but he is getting better every lesson.

Practicing rudiments before giving a drum lesson. Loosening these fingers. Playing para- diddles while playing quarter notes on my right foot and eight notes on my left. Starting BPM at 70 , next 75 to 80 then straight to 90. I mess up at the end. Keep on pushing myself; trying to break my limits and go beyond.

Teaching one of my students how to play merengue on the drums. Enseñando uno de mis estudiantes en cómo tocar el ritmo merengue en la batería. He was having fun playing the rhythm. I mean; it’s in his blood: Dominican culture 😁.
