The wait is over, as our returning students are welcomed H🏡ME to Lawrenceville today. Orientation week is where traditions begin and our community sets the tone for the year ahead. 🏫✏️📚

This fall, we’re proud to welcome 830 Lawrentians representing 39 U.S. states and 34 countries around the world. Congratulations to Athletic Trainer Mike Goldenberg who was recently awarded the 2026 Eve Becker-Doyle Leadership Award by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the organization’s highest honor for leadership and volunteerism. Read more at https://www.lawrenceville.org/news-and-media

For nearly four decades, Goldenberg has occupied a distinctive place in the lives of Lawrenceville students. In addition to caring for injured student-athletes, he also serves as a student advisor and Stanley House Duty Team affiliate, building relationships with generations of Lawrentians who know him simply as “G.”

He is entering his 38th year as a duty affiliate of Stanley House, where he spends one evening a week in the House to make sure everything is running smoothly and to be a trusted guide for any school or personal issues students wish to discuss.

As an advisor, Goldenberg encourages students to look beyond the activity that may have brought them to Lawrenceville.

“Branch out,” he tells his advisees. Meet people beyond your familiar circle. Explore an interest unrelated to your primary sport or activity.

“The worst case scenario, you don’t like it, you step back,” he said. “That’s what’s so great about Lawrenceville. You can come in thinking that you’re going to do one thing and leave doing another.”

Over the years, Goldenberg has watched his relationships with students come full circle.

Heather Hoover ’91 knew him first as an athletic trainer while competing in field hockey, squash, and lacrosse. Years later, Goldenberg cared for all three of her daughters at Lawrenceville, helping them through knee surgeries and other sports injuries.

“As a parent, knowing that your children are receiving top care is so comforting, especially when they are at boarding school and you cannot be with them,” Hoover said. “G’s professionalism and dedication is a great gift that he shared with our family.”

The Board of Trustees of The Lawrenceville School announced the appointment of Jason Robinson H’09 ‘10 P’15 ‘16 as the 14th Head of School. He will begin his tenure at Lawrenceville on July 1, 2027. Welcome back to Lawrenceville!

We may be known for Harkness, but today is all about Barkness learning. 🐾📚

Happy National Dog Day to the pawsitively iconic campus dogs of Lawrenceville! From House duty to campus walks, these furry Lawrentians make every day on campus a whole lot brighter (and a lot more fetch-friendly).

Oreo keeps watch over the Crescent from her home Stephens House with the Ding family!

Sweet Duke is home with Coach Wise and her family, and always up for a friendly hello on campus.

Stella Blue Allen is often found in the Dean of Students office of helping out in the mailroom. She’s also a certified therapy dog!

Dean Welborne’s dog Jamie is always sporting her Big Red spirit wear - let’s go Big Red!

Coach Uliasz’s dogs Rafa and Georgia are summer-ready with fresh cuts and often seen on the sidelines of Big Red athletics games.

At the Big Red Farm, mornings spent harvesting produce naturally lead to big discussions about climate change, food systems, and scientific discovery. 🌻🔬

For Gabriel Vermut ’27, what started as “just a summer job” quickly transformed into one of the defining experiences of his Lawrenceville education.

“We want students, faculty, and staff to see the farm as a destination for learning, collaboration, and wellness,” says Director of Sustainability Steve Laubach.

“It’s not just a normal farm,” Gabriel shares. “It’s our community. We look forward to being there—not just because of the work, but because it connects us to the environment. We build friendships there. We discover interests.”

Wanting other students to discover sustainability the way he had, Vermut founded the Big Red Farm Club and will serve as Sustainability Council rep this year.

What began with a handful of students has grown to introduce dozens of students to the Farm through volunteer projects, educational programs, community service, and seasonal events.

During orientation, students will connect over family-style meals at the Farm, and visit throughout the year for other community-building events.

“The Big Red Farm isn’t a place where food is grown,” he said. “It’s a place where students grow.”
