A great educator does more than teach their students, they act as an inspiration to help them accomplish their goals. Through their efforts young people feel seen, loved, supported, and challenged as they work towards their dreams in school and in life.
At our Building Brighter Futures Celebration, we recognized our Director of Education Ms. Rachel Moscoso as our 2026 Inspiration in Action Award recipient. Rachel serves as example of what hard work, perseverance, and not being afraid to strive for something more can create. Her impact at SNS goes beyond the classroom and we are grateful for all she does!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our Building Brighter Futures Celebration such a wonderful evening! It was a pleasure welcoming everyone to learn more about Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett, recognize three individuals for their profound impact on SNS, and hear an amazing story of brotherhood, love, perspective, and humility from our featured speaker Lawson Luckie, star tight end for the UGA Football Team. To say he's an impressive young man is an understatement! For all he's accomplished on the football field he will make a bigger impact off it advocating for his brother Cannon and the entire special needs community. Stay tuned for more photos, videos, and memories from a truly special night over the next week.

It's a beautiful morning at The Garden! Did you know that our Young Adults Learning Life Skills (YALLS) Program plants, maintains, harvests, and cooks with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs throughout the year? This hands-on activity is a great learning experience that complements our culinary and healthy eating programs. The recent rains have the garden thriving with kale, swiss chard, tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cabbage, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, mint, thyme, oregano, and a variety of wildflowers growing quickly!

We are less than two weeks away from Building a Brighter Future - A Night of Hope & Celebration on Thursday, June 4th at the Buford Community Center! The evening will be filled celebrating our students, teachers, and others who make SNS special and highlighting our vision to grow our school and the impact!
We are just as excited to welcome UGA Football star tight end Lawson Luckie as our featured speaker for the evening. Beyond his accomplishments on the football field, Lawson is an amazing supporter and advocate for his younger brother Cannon, who suffers from a rare neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts his speech, hearing, and motor skills. Lawson will share stories from his journey through football, experience at UGA, and his life as part of a special needs family!

As we wrap up another school year, we can't go without celebrating our SNS Employee of the Quarter - Mr. Luka!!! Luka serves as a floating paraprofessional assisting each of our classrooms and beyond, evening pitching in with our YALLS Program when needed. His teammates recognized him for his positive attitude, willingness to jump in and help, anticipating the needs of students and teachers, and striving for excellence in all he does. What's even more impressive is he does all this while balancing the demands of college as he earns his degree in Special Education at Georgia Gwinnett College! Thank you Luka for all you do to support our students, young adults, and staff here at SNS!!!

On Monday we capped off our amazing week at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic by hosting the first annual SNS Champions for Education Classic! Through our charitable partnership with the event, our golfers were the first to experience TPC Sugarloaf with the same pin positions, layout, and pristine course conditions played on Championship Sunday! All funds raised through this event benefit the SNS Scholarship Fund which ensures that education and adult day programs at SNS remain available to all. A very special thank you to our Presenting Sponsor Abernathy Development Company and to every sponsor and player that joined us for this perfect day!
