We might still have some school left, but it’s also summer, so we mesh the two.

I just realized I DO have stacks of books to show you. It’s just our “normal life” as a homeschooling family.

Spring Break did not break the bank. We traveled relatively close on an overnight trip. Thankful for my new job that enables me to afford such things now. I just wrote a song entitled, “When I was Poor Last Week,” and it made my husband tear up after all we’ve been through. I can’t wait to release it to the public soon.

To the Christians who celebrate Easter and to Jews who celebrate Passover and to those who celebrate both, may you sing your freedom song!

Life skills, baby! I don’t want my kids to feel so unused to adult things that they feel unready when it comes.

Sometimes, I feel like kids turn 18, and then we expect them to do it all automatically. What is that mentality? Why not give them training wheels first?

Nothing serious, 😂 just laughing here prepping for my daughter’s Girl Scouts retreat camp, realizing I literally have camped as an adult at my kids’ retreats more than I ever did as a kid!

Nature walks are healthy and breed conversations: we talked about how kudzu and bamboo are invasive species, but also how some things that look dead come alive in spring. We cut the vine open and saw it had moisture inside and compared it to the inside of a stick.

I guarantee you my conversation will sound differently depending on which kid I bring with me. They all explore life differently and are interested in very different things.

We made up our own holiday a few years back sitting around a campfire 🔥 eating S’mores. We said, you know we need a holiday to celebrate not just our faith or our birth, but also our family. So, we established a random date (August 13th) and called it “Alagon Chocolate Eve.” This year, we decided it would center around s’mores. Sadly, one of our crew has decided he no longer likes chocolate, so his version had butterscotch. (Equally yummy because it tasted like a blondie IMO)

I just used the microwave, but they insisted on campfire vibes, so playdoh + birthday candles = voila!
