Consumer Decision Making (CDM) is a hands-on 4-H judging contest that helps youth build real-world skills in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and smart shopping. 🧠💡

A blue ribbon can start with something as simple as the correct headspace in your jar!
Whether you're entering jams, jellies, pickles, fruits, or vegetables, proper headspace helps create a good seal, maintains product quality, and gives your entry a polished appearance that judges notice.
✅ Headspace Guidelines
🍓 Jams & Jellies: ¼ inch
🥒 Fruits & Pickles: ½ inch
🌽 Vegetables & Meats: 1 inch
🥫 Large Low-Acid Foods: 1 to 1¼ inches
🔍 Before canning, remember to:
✔️ Inspect jars for chips or cracks
✔️ Use new lids
✔️ Keep jars warm before filling
✔️ Never use damaged lids

✅ Use fresh, high-quality food
✅ Follow tested recipes

The impact of our Farm to Table Dinner continues! 🌾

On Monday, we had the privilege of presenting the proceeds from this year's Farm to Table Dinner to Lawrence County's FFA and 4-H programs.

Hosted in partnership with the UT TSU Extension - Lawrence County, Farm to Table is more than a dinner—it's an investment in the future of agriculture. Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, attendees, donors, volunteers, and everyone who participated, the proceeds from this year's event will go directly toward supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders in Lawrence County.
