A few weeks ago, our archaeologists hosted their Dig to Display workshop. This workshop taught participants what to consider and how to build a meaningful display. As promised, the display created in our workshop is now ready for public viewing at our learning center! Thank you to Hanna Shafer and Paul Stone for creating such a great display and letting us show it off.
Don't miss out on our next archaeology workshop, join us on October 17th from 2:00PM - 4:00PM for Skeleton Stories: Identifying Animals in the Archaeological Record. For more information and to register, use the following link > https://square.link/u/nFbfZWa5

Here is another update from our fabulous Stew Crew!
From the side lot where the sunflowers now tower over the building, and our experimental garden plots are growing archaeologically accurate plants such as Hopi Red Amaranth, which would have been found at the Jennison Guard Site.
While out at the Guard Archaeological Preserve, our three sisters garden is flourishing along with another archaeological plant, Goosefoot Chenopodium.
Come join our Stew Crew at their next Hands In the Land Workshop on August 29th and learn about pollinators! From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, come learn about the importance of and biology behind pollination and how to identify and support common pollinator species.

Big news for ARI—and for the future of archaeology, education, and preservation in our community.
The Archaeological Research Institute has been awarded $424,545 through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation’s Arts & Culture Grant Program. We’re also incredibly grateful to the Dearborn Community Foundation for its generous $100,000 grant supporting ADA accessibility as part of our campus improvement project.
Together, these investments bring us significantly closer to creating a more welcoming, accessible, and engaging ARI campus—one with expanded learning spaces, improved visitor experiences, stronger collections and curation areas, and new opportunities to experience our region’s history both inside and outside our walls.
We are deeply grateful to the State of Indiana, IEDC, the Dearborn Community Foundation, Lilly Endowment Inc., and every community partner, board member, donor, volunteer, member, advocate, and supporter who has believed in this vision and helped us reach this milestone.
And we’re just getting started.
