A Conversation with Women in the Law - Kansas City, October 13, 2017

Due to scheduling conflicts with our first meeting, FBA will be having a brief follow-up general meeting on Tuesday, October 3rd at 12:30 in Room 127 to host elections for Board positions and provide information for people who were unable to attend on September 14th.

Positions available are Events Manager, National Liaison, 1L Division Clerk, and 1L Representative. The Events Manager and National Liaison positions are available to members in any class, 1-3L. Dues for new members are $15 and $10 for returning members.

Members interested in running for a position will be asked to give a 1 minute (max) introduction of themselves and why they are interested in running for the position. Questions or unable to attend? Email us at [email protected] or FBA’s president, Calleine, at [email protected]!

National Liaison
The National Liaison serves as the liaison between this Division and the National FBA Law Student Division Board. The National Liaison follows up with the National FBA Law Student Division Board Member assigned to the 10th Circuit and reports back to the membership any news or updates. The National Liaison serves as the chairperson of the Outreach & Membership Committee and serves on the Events Committee.

Events Manager
The Events Manager is responsible for planning and executing Division events. The Events Manager collaborates with the Fundraising Manager to facilitate Division fundraising events and with the National Liaison, President, and Vice President to facilitate events and networking opportunities with the Kansas and Western District of Missouri FBA Chapter and National Law Student Division Board. The Events Manager serves as the chairperson of the Events Committee and serves on the Fundraising Committee.

IL Division Clerk
The 1L Division Clerk is responsible for taking official minutes at Board and Division meetings, maintaining a complete Division roster with the Secretary, and submits Division updates to the Division Board, including recaps of Division and other FBA events, fundraising efforts, and meetings. The 1L Division Clerk works with the President and Vice President to serve on all committees as needed.

1L Representative
The 1L Representative is responsible for outreach and recruitment of first-year and upper-level law students as needed. This outreach includes informing students about FBA generally, Division meetings, Division and other Association events, and helping facilitate attendance. The 1L Representative serves as vice chairperson of the Outreach & Membership Committee.

The 1L Representative will be responsible for outreach and recruitment of first year law students. This outreach includes informing students about FBA meetings and events and helping facilitate attendance. The representative will co-chair the Outreach & Membership Committee.

The Fundraising Chair will help fundraise, request school funding, and plan Division events. The chair will collaborate with the Event Planning Chair and the local FBA Chapter to facilitate events. The representative will co-chair the Fundraising Committee and sit on the Events Committee.

The chair will collaborate with the Fundraising Chair and the local FBA Chapter to facilitate events and networking opportunities. KU Law Federal Bar Association
Meeting & Elections: Tuesday 30th @ 12:30 in room 106

The meeting will inform students of FBA events this year. Dues for membership are $10 for returning members and $15 for new members. These dues cover admission, food/drink, and networking at events with practitioners. For instance, last semester we hosted National FBA President Mark Vincent, and the National Membership Chair Jonathan Hafen (below).

At the meeting, we will also hold elections for three positions (1L Representative, Event Planning Chair, Fundraising Chair). Students will also have the opportunity to sign up for committees (Event Planning, Fundraising, Membership/Outreach). You can express your interest at the meeting but those interested are encouraged to email [email protected] before the meeting. See you there!

The KU FBA Board met over dinner to plan the upcoming semester. We're excited to see everyone back at Green Hall this week!
