I never expected online teaching to change my life, but it sure has!!

🙌 I get more engagement out of students than ever before
👩🏼‍🏫 I get to make lesson plans that really meet my student’s needs rather than hoping I can change a provided curriculum to do so
🌍 I get to meet students from all over the world

I never thought I would say this as a teacher that had to teach hybrid in Covid, but I love teaching online now!

What is your student’s current obsession? The thing they can’t stop talking about at dinner? 😄

I ask my students this all the time. Lately I’ve heard everything from deep-sea creatures to the entire lore of Minecraft. And honestly? Those obsessions are the best launchpad for learning.

That’s what I love about teaching on Outschool. You can find ready-made classes on almost any niche topic, but since classes are small (sometimes just 1-on-1), teachers can also personalize other classes to fit exactly what your child is into.

I do this in my 1-on-1 Becoming a Better Reader class all the time. Instead of generic reading drills, I choose books and activities based on what each kid is actually obsessed with: dinosaurs, space, video game lore, you name it. They’re not just practicing reading, they’re reading about what they already love. That’s when it clicks. ✨

One of my favorite parts of teaching is figuring out what makes a student light up. 💡📚

Maybe it’s animals. Maybe it’s sports. Maybe it’s a topic they could talk about ALL day. 😂
