Welcome to Van Buren Tech, a proud affiliate of the Van Buren Intermediate School District (VBISD)! Our mission is "to empower students to progress toward their life goals" as we deliver exceptional Career and Technical Education (CTE) that empowers students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in their future careers or college endeavors. With over 25 diverse CTE programs, Van Buren Tech offers hands-on learning experiences and the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications and college credits that seamlessly transfer to various colleges and universities. We don’t view ourselves as an alternative to college but as a vital pathway to achieving both academic and career goals. What We Offer:

Students split their day between their local high school and Van Buren Tech, with classes available in both morning and afternoon sessions. We collaborate with 15 school districts, offering state-approved CTE programs. Transportation is provided, and there are no fees for attending our classes! UPDATE: PUBLIC NOTICE: VBISD | Van Buren Tech

Van Buren Tech to Reopen Monday Following Indoor Air Quality Evaluation

Van Buren Intermediate School District has completed an extensive evaluation of the Van Buren Tech building today as part of our continued efforts to ensure a clean and safe environment for our students and staff.

Today, we consulted with the local health department and worked with an environmental testing company to conduct additional testing and a thorough examination of the building. The evaluation included additional air quality testing, as well as a detailed review of the areas of concern.

While the results of today’s environmental testing will not be available until Monday, the thorough examination of the building did not identify any conditions that would require Van Buren Tech to remain closed beyond the weekend.

Van Buren Tech will be open as scheduled on Monday, September 28, 2026.

It is important to note that Van Buren ISD was not required to close the building based on the information available to us. However, when there is a potential concern involving the health and safety of our students and staff, we believe it is important to err on the side of caution. We made the decision to cancel our open house and Friday’s instruction so that we could give environmental professionals the opportunity to thoroughly examine the building before students and staff returned.

We recognize that families may have questions or concerns, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we have taken the time necessary to carefully evaluate the situation.

Our priority throughout this process has been, and will continue to be, the health and safety of our students and staff. We will review the environmental testing results when they are available on Monday and will take any additional steps that may be necessary based on those results.

PUBLIC NOTICE: VBISD | Van Buren Tech

Dear Van Buren Tech Families,

Recently, Van Buren Tech conducted preventive indoor air quality testing as part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our students and staff are learning and working in a clean and safe environment. Van Buren ISD has been working closely with Villa Environmental to evaluate the building and ensure that appropriate steps are taken to maintain a healthy environment.

Late yesterday afternoon, we received one test result that requires additional review and follow-up. Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to cancel the Open House and use Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to conduct additional evaluation and, if necessary, take appropriate remediation steps.

Today, we will be consulting with an additional environmental company to provide another level of expertise and ensure that we are taking the appropriate measures before students and staff return to the building.

At this time, we are taking these steps as a precaution, and we do not want families to be alarmed. Our priority is, and will continue to be, the health and safety of our students and staff.

We will provide additional information to families as we learn more and will communicate any changes to the school schedule as soon as possible.

Due to building-related concerns at Van Buren Tech, tonight’s Back to School Open House is canceled, and Van Buren Tech will be closed tomorrow, Friday, September 25.

Patient Care students are learning essential lifesaving skills through American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR and First Aid training for adults, children, and infants. Students practiced CPR using manikins with feedback devices that indicate proper compression depth and speed. They also practiced rescue breaths and demonstrated how to assist a choking infant.

After completing the instructional videos and demonstrating their skills, students must pass a knowledge test to show their understanding as part of their certification requirements. American Heart Association BLS certification is one of many industry-recognized certifications students can earn while attending Van Buren Tech.

Van Buren Tech is proud to announce that we received a $1,000 grant from Meemic Insurance to support our EPIC initiative, which recognizes students for demonstrating essential employability skills. EPIC stands for Engagement, Professionalism, Initiative, and Communication. Through the initiative, instructors will recognize students who demonstrate these skills in the classroom and those who show significant growth throughout the school year.

Students may be recognized in two areas: High-Performance Excellence, for consistently demonstrating strong employability skills, or Exceptional Growth & Progress, for making significant improvements in their employability skills. The grant will help provide EPIC T-shirts and student recognition certificates that instructors can use to celebrate these accomplishments.

The EPIC T-shirts and certificates will make student accomplishments visible, meaningful, and memorable while reinforcing that students' choices, effort, attitude, and growth matter. We are grateful to Meemic Insurance for supporting our students and helping us recognize the employability skills they are developing for the workplace and their future careers.

The school year is just getting started, and VB Tech Law Enforcement students are already gaining valuable exposure to the field. Today, the Van Buren County SWAT Team used Van Buren Tech’s onsite residential training house for a specialized training exercise. Undersheriff Casey Davis included VB Tech students in the team briefing, giving them an inside look at the planning, communication, and teamwork involved in a SWAT operation.

Students then observed the team in action as they worked through a simulated scenario inside the residential training house. Experiences like this connect classroom learning to the skills and situations students may encounter in their future careers, while giving them opportunities to learn directly from industry professionals. This is just the beginning of the school year, with many more opportunities ahead for VB Tech students.
