For 8 years, the VBISD Instructional Services Mental Health Clinician Team has been supporting students, educators, and schools across Van Buren County.

Embedded in schools throughout the county, our clinicians provide individual and group therapy, trauma-informed care, assessments, crisis intervention, professional development, and additional mental health supports. They also lead the Youth Advisory Panel, giving students a voice in conversations about mental health and school-related issues.

Students may be connected with a clinician through a Child Study Team (CST), student or parent referral, or a community referral processed through the CST.
At the heart of the work is a simple goal: helping students build the skills, support, and confidence they need to thrive in school and in life.

VBISD staff came together for Opening Day 2026 to Paint the Possibilities for the year ahead. We were inspired by keynote speaker Marv Fox Jr., who challenged us to lead with purpose-centered service and reminded us of the impact we can make through the work we do each day. Throughout the day, staff engaged in professional learning and conversations focused on growth, opportunity, and what’s ahead for VBISD. We explored our new VBISD visual identity and logo, reviewed updated procedures, discussed important organizational updates, and continued the work of shaping our strategic plan for the future.

Most importantly, Opening Day was a celebration of possibility for working together, embracing change, serving with purpose, and continuing to grow as an organization. Here’s to a new school year and all that we’ll accomplish together!

A New Look for VBISD: Many Parts, One Identity. Today, we’re excited to introduce the refreshed VBISD logo and visual identity!

Over the years, VBISD has grown to include an extensive range of departments, programs, services, educators, and partnerships. While each brings its own expertise and purpose, they all share one thing: they are part of VBISD. Our refreshed identity brings those pieces together under one unified brand, making it easier for our students, families, staff, and communities to recognize how everything connects back to VBISD. We’ve kept the colors from our previous logo as a nod to VBISD's history and tradition, while introducing a complementary color to bring a fresh, modern element that represents growth and innovation. This is more than simply a new logo. It’s a complete visual identity designed to create recognition, consistency, and connection across the organization. And while our look is changing, we’re not leaving our history behind. We’re honoring our past while responsibly preparing for our future.

The VBISD Multilingual & Migrant Services team supports newcomer, immigrant, migrant, and multilingual students through English language instruction, academic support, summer programming, home visits, translation and interpretation, and advocacy, while also helping educators better serve multilingual learners. Through Project NOMAD, the team provides summer learning and enrichment for children of migrant workers.

Did you know Van Buren County has the largest migrant worker population in Michigan? Supporting these students is one way the team gives back to the families who contribute so much to local communities and the economy. From the team’s first multilingual field trip to helping students build the confidence to advocate for themselves, the team is passionate about creating opportunity, celebrating diversity, and ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed!
