URGENT ADVOCACY UPDATE! Dear KAEA Friends:
Congress is on the brink of devastating cuts to education funding! The House Appropriations Committee’s FY25 proposal slashes Title I by 25%, eliminates Title II, and proposes the complete elimination of the Assistance for Arts Education (AAE) program. Their rationale? “Funding should focus on core subjects like reading, writing, and math.”
We cannot let Congress strip away critical support for arts education and essential federal programs. We need your voice NOW to protect the arts. Reach out and tell Congress why arts education matters to YOU.
You could write something as simple as:
“It is essential to maintain funding for the arts in public schools, rather than solely prioritizing reading, writing, and mathematics. The arts contribute to the development of well-rounded individuals and foster higher-order thinking skills that are increasingly valuable in today’s job market.”
Thank you for all that you do,
Dr. Charity-Mika Woodard
KAEA Rep for Museums, Higher Ed, and Arts Administration

This year, Carnegie Hall is excited to share a new partnership opportunity for districts around the country to bring Musical Explorers, a program that connects students in grades K–2 to rich and diverse musical communities as they build fundamental music skills through listening, singing, and moving, into your classrooms.
For our 2024-25 season, we are launching a District Partnership Pilot program to support school districts around the country that are looking to join other districts across the country in integrating Musical Explorers into their classrooms and enhance Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education (CRSE) practices in their school communities.
