Thank you to everyone who joined us for the AI Symposium AI Symposium, held on November 7th at the Burge Union!
Over 50 KU educators attended to explore ways others are effectively integrating generative AI into their teaching.
A panel of presenters from the KU faculty community discussed:
🗣️ AI Fluency
⚖️ Process Over Product
đź”’ Safe and Compliant AI Tools
🤝 Promoting Trust in Student AI Use
The key theme across all presentations was the necessity of teaching students how to use AI tools critically and responsibly, rather than just banning it in courses.

Day one of our Course Design Institute (CDI) was a great success. This morning a new cohort of faculty and departments gathered to spend time reflecting and reimagining their courses.
We kicked off the day with small group conversations centered around preassigned readings and discussions on course goals. The discussions lead to the "Just-in-Time" poster preparation and presentation. The posters allowed participants to share information with the broader CDI community about their course, goals for student learning and goals for CDI.
The energy and enthusiasm exhibited by our participants on day one were truly impressive, setting the stage for day two tomorrow.
