The IDRS Midsouth Regional Chapter is dedicate to serving the needs of double reed players throughout the midsouth.

The IDRS Midsouth Regional Chapter is an active organization stemming from the six-state area of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Each year the society sponsors a young artist competition for high school and university students in the six-state area and a double reed festival featuring master classes, recitals, and clinics. Our next IDRS 2026 Midsouth member shoutout: Emily Foltz!

Emily will be performing Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) for oboe and piano on a shared recital July 9th. Also performing on the shared recital is bassoonist Ryan Romine.

Emily represents the midsouth state of Kansas where she teaches at Washburn University in Topeka.

IDRS 2026 Midsouth member shoutout: TK DeWitt and Leigh Muñoz!

The duo will be performing Orange Tree by Jenni Brandon on the July 8th evening concert titled Resonances Across Cultures.

TK and Leigh represent the midsouth state of Missouri where Leigh teaches at UMKC and TK is a member of the Kansas City Symphony.

Our first IDRS 2026 Midsouth member shoutout is our own VP of Competition, Rachel Frederiksen! 🌟

Rachel will be performing Puerto Rican Danzas for Double Reeds composed by Jesús Ramos, who will also be performing. Other performers featured on this recital include Jamal Davidson, Emily Prochaska, and Andy Flurer.

Rachel represents our Midsouth state of Texas and teaches at the University of Incarnate Word.
