👀 Eyes… 👃🏽 nose… 👂🏽 ears… but where do they all go?!

Our Brilliant Brooks learners had so much fun putting Mr. Potato Head back together while learning about the different parts of our bodies!

Each child had to identify a body part, figure out where it belonged, and place it in the correct spot. And of course, once they figured it out, they had a little fun dressing Mr. Potato Head up too! 😂🥔

What looks like a simple game is actually helping our learners practice:
🧠 Body awareness and identification
👀 Visual recognition and matching
🤏🏽 Fine motor skills
🗣️ Language and vocabulary
💭 Problem-solving and decision-making

At Little Rivers, we love creating opportunities for children to learn by DOING. When children can touch it, move it, talk about it, and have fun with it, learning becomes an experience they can remember!

And judging by some of these Mr. Potato Heads… our Brilliant Brooks definitely added a little personality of their own! 😂

Learning our ABCs can be a hands-on experience! 🍿

Our Brilliant Brooks learners practiced writing the letter A using popcorn kernels! Instead of just using pencil and paper, our students used their fingers to trace and form the letter while exploring a fun new texture.

Sensory activities like this give our learners an opportunity to strengthen early writing and fine motor skills while touching, moving, and exploring different materials. And judging by all those little hands digging into the popcorn kernels, they definitely didn't mind the practice! 😄

At Little Rivers, learning happens through exploring, creating, touching, and PLAYING!

There’s always something to discover during Circle Time! 📚

Our Brilliant Brooks learners started their day with Ms. Elanie exploring all the wonderful things that happen during the fall season!

As they read together, our learners identified some of the changes and experiences that make fall special—from leaves changing colors 🍁 and apples growing 🍎 to pumpkins, hayrides, and fun days at the farm!

Circle Time gives our learners a chance to do more than listen to a story. They’re building vocabulary, practicing active listening, answering questions, sharing what they already know, and making connections between the classroom and the world around them.

And sometimes the best learning starts with simply gathering together and asking, “What do you notice?”

Sometimes the best learning happens outside! ☀️

At Little Rivers, getting outdoors is about more than just getting some fresh air. It’s another opportunity for our school-age learners to move, laugh, work together, and build important skills.

From a good old-fashioned sack race to a team challenge where everyone had to communicate, concentrate, and move together without dropping their pencils —our learners had plenty of opportunities to put teamwork into action.

Some challenges took more than one try (okay… a LOT more than one try 😂), but that’s part of the experience! They learned to regroup, encourage one another, keep trying, and have fun along the way.

And the fun didn’t end with our Summer Program!

These same kinds of games, team-building challenges, STEM activities, clubs, homework support, and more are part of our After-School Program, happening now at Little Rivers Christian Learning Center.

Learning our letters is more fun when there’s a surprise inside! 🔤✨

Our Brilliant Brooks learners practiced letter recognition and beginning sounds with a hands-on matching activity. Each child received a letter can filled with pictures of objects that all begin with that letter. Their challenge was to explore each picture, name the object, and discover what they all had in common!

Activities like this help our learners strengthen letter recognition, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and those important connections between letters and the sounds they make — all while learning through play. 📚🧠

At Little Rivers, we believe some of the best learning happens when children can touch, explore, discover, and have FUN along the way!

Little hands, BIG creativity! 🎨💜

Our Tiny Creeks had a colorful time exploring paint through hands-on art! Using sponges and other painting tools, our little learners experimented with making lines, dots, shapes, and their very own creative designs.

But there’s more happening here than just making a masterpiece! 🖌️ Every time they grasp, press, dab, and move their painting tools, they’re strengthening their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and control — important skills they’ll continue using as they grow.

At Little Rivers, we give even our littlest learners opportunities to explore, create, and discover the world around them. 🌊

Sometimes learning gets a little messy… and that’s part of the fun! 💜

Kindergarten readiness starts with the little things! 🎒📚

Every morning in our Brilliant Brooks classroom, our learners come together for Morning Meeting — an important part of our daily routine that helps prepare them for the structure of Kindergarten and beyond.

We begin our day together with Morning Prayer 🙏🏽 and then jump into learning as we review our Letter of the Week, Color of the Week, Sentence of the Week, and more!

But some of the biggest lessons aren't always on the board.
🙋🏽 Learning to raise our hands
👂🏽 Listening while someone else is speaking
⏳ Waiting patiently for our turn
🧠 Sitting, focusing, and following directions
🗣️ Building confidence to participate in a group
🙏🏽 Beginning our day with God

These everyday routines help children develop independence, self-control, confidence, and classroom habits that will make the transition to Kindergarten that much easier.

At Little Rivers, we're not just teaching children what they need to KNOW — we're helping them learn how to LEARN. 🌊💙

What a special day! Our parents joined us for a fun-filled Thanksgiving celebration, bringing delicious dishes and big smiles. 💛
Our students loved becoming teachers for the day—showing off their circle time routine, the number of the week, the shape, and even our sentence of the week! ✨
