The KU Slavic Department is offering a fully online Elementary Polish course (PLSH 104) for the first time in Fall 2020. This is a 5-credit hour introductory course which involves self-p aced activities and one voluntary speaking practice meeting per week via ZOOM. The course is a good option for undergraduate students who have always wanted to learn Polish, but could never fit it into their schedules, for busy graduate students who need Polish as a research language, and for heritage speakers who want to learn/improve their Polish. If you are non-degree seeking student, please see the attached poster for detailed instructions on how to enroll.

Our very own Krzysztof Borowski successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Slavic linguistics "Online Conflict Discourse, Identity, and the Social Imagination of Silesian Minority in Poland" on 29 April 2020. His committee unanimously awarded the degree with honors. Dr. Borowski has accepted a position as a multi-term lecturer in Polish language and culture at the Department of German, Nordic and Slavic Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Congratulations on all of your amazing accomplishments, Krzysztof!!! Heartfelt thanks for your dedicated work in maintaining the KU Polish Club page!
