"ku.usgbc: Successful with Lawrence Memorial Central Middle School today! A few student members helped educate the young students of Lawrence about the benefits of recycling and composting by and demonstrating it with provided bins. Meanwhile, the school's janitor was in awe that he only had to take out one single can of garbage vs the usual amount. "I don't think that has ever happened before", he said. The compost collected from this even will be used for the school's garden as many staff members hope to see it back at the LMCM permanently. ♻️"

Good News!

Green Apple Day of Service is now scheduled for Tuesday, September 27! We will be traveling to Liberty Memorial Central Middle School during their lunch hour. We plan to arrive at 11:15 AM to set up a few tables and signage on trash bins. Throughout the hour we will discuss with students about the benefits of recycling, composting and ultimately avoiding throwing everything into the garbage. The idea of sorting waste can make a big impact with little effort. We are excited to be able to share this with the young students of Lawrence!

Liberty Memorial Central Middle School is right at the intersection of 15th and Mass (1400 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS 66044) and is a short walking distance away from campus. If you are available on Tuesday, September 27th from 11:15AM– 12:30PM feel free to come join us for Green Apple Day of Service! (This will count towards community service hours!)

Shoot a message to [email protected] if you are interested or have any questions!
