Based on the flagship Chelsea school, Phoenix Charter Academy, Phoenix Academy Lawrence (PAL) is a high school serving students who want a college-preparatory education from a diploma-granting school. In winter 2012, Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea was approached by Jeff Riley, the Superintendent/Receiver of the Lawrence Public Schools to enter into a partnership to serve the youth of Lawrence.

After a few months of busy preparation, PAL will open its doors to students on August 27, 2012 as the first ever in-district high school operated by a charter network. PAL serves over 150 students, providing them with rigorous academics, like AP courses, and relentless support, like childcare for parenting students and frequent phone calls to parents or adult supporters. At full capacity, up to 250 students will be put on the path to college through the work of PAL teachers and staff.

Phoenix Academy Lawrence would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Greater Lawrence Fellowship of the Arts for inviting us to participate in the Juneteenth Community Arts & Empowerment Celebration at the Lawrence Heritage Museum.

We had an amazing time engaging with community members, building new connections, and celebrating the significance of Juneteenth through art, culture, and empowerment. Events like these remind us of the importance of coming together to honor history, uplift one another, and strengthen our community.

Thank you for your partnership, collaboration, and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our youth and families. We look forward to continuing to work together and celebrating all that makes our community strong.

What a way to close out the school year! 🎉

Our final Community Meeting was filled with celebration, laughter, and appreciation as we recognized our scholars for finishing the year strong. The hard work, perseverance, and growth shown throughout the year were truly inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything our students have accomplished.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was our special bead-gifting tradition. Scholars and staff had the opportunity to honor someone who made a difference in their year—whether it was a teacher, peer, mentor, or fellow student.

Watching our community recognize and appreciate one another was a powerful reminder of the relationships and support that make Phoenix Academy such a special place.

And of course, we wrapped things up with one of our favorite traditions—Dunk a Teacher! A huge thank you to Ms. B and Mr. Mansfield for being such great sports and helping us end the year with plenty of smiles and laughter.

To all of our scholars, families, and staff: thank you for an incredible year. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Take time to recharge your batteries, make great memories, and come back ready to make next year even better!

🎓✨ One of our favorite nights of the year is our Senior Banquet!

This special evening gives us the opportunity to celebrate our graduates, reflect on their journeys, and recognize all of the hard work, perseverance, and growth that brought them to this milestone. These are the moments we cherish and the memories that make the Phoenix Academy community so special.
