In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the City of Lawrence Kansas recognized the cultural significance of the Mexican American community of “La Yarda”, built to house railroad workers and the first Latinos in Lawrence in the 1920s. Oct 2nd is the official "La Yarda" day!

Hispanic Heritage Month Fun fact: our very own LHS Latinx students have participated in baile Folklorico for St. John's Mexican Fiesta! Their picture was used for our school's mural painted by local artist, local artist Phil “Sike Style” Shafer!
