We want to present Green Come True, a Soap refill store, created by Carolina Simon-Pardo, one of our former LAGO members. She and her husband recently opened the store in Lawrence KS and invited us to get to know their initiative. Their store offers hands, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, dish and laundry soaps which are biodegradable and refillable. They want to contribute to reducing plastic consumption, you can bring your own container and refill at their store or you can get one of their glass containers.

They are currently giving up a gallon of Laundry soap for free! on your first visit that can be the last laundry plastic container you will use. Stop by 741 New Jersey!

"Somos Lawrence" está buscando un voluntario para asistir a la comunidad hispana a través del Centro Ballard. Interesados, favor de comentar el post para dar seguimiento.

'Somos Lawrence' en colaboración con el Centro Ballard busca a una persona que pueda estar un día por semana durante 3 horas en la despensa de comida, coordinando, ayudando en lo necesario, y sobretodo recibiendo a clientes hispanohablantes.

Es una posición muy delicada y buscamos a un voluntario/a que se sienta cómodx conversando con el personal de Ballard y haciendo que las personas hispanohablantes que llegan se sientan bienvenidas.

Estamos construyendo esa sensación de comunidad que buscamos y por ello iniciamos la búsqueda de voluntari@s entre estudiantes de posgrado o hispanohablantes o absolutamente cómodxs comunicándose en español.

Sentimos que es una responsabilidad muy grande, y aunque son tres horas a la semana, el desplazarse allá y la dedicación que buscamos solo le sería viable a alguien con interés genuino y a largo plazo en trabajar en la comunidad.

La persona debe también comunicarse regularmente con lxs miembrxs de Somos Lawrence, y asistir a reuniones una vez al mes.
El total de horas por semana, incluyendo desplazamiento a Ballard nunca excedería las 5 horas por semana, y usualmente sería de 3.5 horas por semana.
