Woodlawn Elementary β€” A proud USD 497 school in Lawrence, KS, where Riverhawks learn, grow, and soar together!

Woodlawn Elementary School, home of the Riverhawks, is located on 5.1 acres of land in North Lawrence. Originally named Fifth Ward School, in 1890, its teachers petitioned to have the name changed to Woodlawn School because the building was surrounded by a wooded lawn of elm, birch, and walnut trees. The original building burned to the ground in 1923, and a new school was built in 1924. Woodlawn serves students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.

WOW Fest year 2βœ…

It was a beautiful evening celebrating scholarship winners, a dedication bench to former Principal Jeanne Fridell, raising money for our scholarship fund, dunk tanks of beloved staff, 4th grade CCR cover bands, lots of pickles, and a time to enjoy local talent. To our North Lawrence community - we love ya and can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year! Thanks to everyone who made the evening possible and to Mrs. Boedeker for dreaming up an event and pulling it off.
