Lawrence - Regional Recap
The Lawrence Tigers delivered a strong performance at the MHSAA Regional 34‑4
Championships in Gobles, highlighted by a dominant day from the girls’ throws crew. Senior Carolina Mancera captured the regional championship in the discus, breaking the school record with a throw of 117‑02, and added a fifth‑place medal in the shot put to lead the team. Evelyn Waite joined her on the podium with a sixth‑place finish in the discus, and the girls’ 4×400 relay of Carolina Mancera, Kaylin Leyva, Kacey Reyes, and Zoey Soppelsa battled to a sixth‑place medal to close out the meet.
The girls also stacked several personal bests. Zoey Soppelsa earned PBs in both the 200m and 400m, while Carolina Mancera and Evelyn Waite each recorded PBs in the discus, marking major progress for the throws group.
On the boys’ side, Xavier Glover secured a sixth‑place regional medal in the 800, and freshman
Evan Broyles added a seventh‑place finish in the 3200. Senior thrower Alexander Gardner
medaled in both the shot put and discus, placing sixth in each. Lawrence also brought home three relay medals: the 4×200 team of Colton Anders, Jake Theragene, Rendyn Alfieri, and Andon Offord finished eighth; the 4×400 squad of Glover, Theragene, Offord, and Alfieri placed seventh; and the 4×800 relay of Glover, Isaac Keymoole, Alfieri, and Mateo Mancera claimed sixth.
The boys added a strong list of personal bests as well. Colton Anders earned a PB in the 100m, Andon Offord in the 200m, Xavier Glover in the 800m, Isaac Keymoole in the 1600m, and Robert Palacios in the 3200m, rounding out a productive day for the Tigers. In total, Lawrence walked away from Regionals with 11 medal events and nine new personal bests, showcasing
depth, toughness, and a rising competitive edge across both squads
