On May 4 our teacher Kim Comstock will be walking students on how to naturally dye one of the most used items in our homes; the pillowcase!
It's something we rest our heads on daily and gives us an amazing opportunity to craft something that grounds us and inspires us as we go to sleep and wake up for the next day.
Students will learn techniques like bundle-dyeing, dye-resist, and eco-printing all using locally found and foraged plants as well to truly make the pillowcases of the place.

Hey all!
We have some exciting news, there was a generous anonymous donor that gave us some money which we wanted to pass along to the students. Because of that we are offering five free tickets!
We decided to split it into the following:
3 tickets for the upcoming Fermenting Basics course held by this Sunday, April 13, 1pm to 3pm.
This course students will learn about fermenting history and basic principles all while crafting your own pickles, kraut, and kimchi. Students will get to take home their jars of ferments plus leave with knowledge and experience on how to do it at home!
The other 2 tickets will be for the Greenwood Spoon Carving course hosted by .craft !
This class students will carve a spoon from greenwood using traditional Scandinavian slöjd techniques. You will take a raw billet all the way to a ready to use cooking spoon. No prior experience is necessary!
With this in mind, if you are interested in either of these courses but find that financially making it happen is difficult or dissuaded you, please reach out! These free tickets will be first come first serve. Once they've been claimed we will update the post!

Hi all!
We've noticed enrollment is a little slow and understandably so. Costs of living are rising and times are chaotic. It's a strange world we're in right now but we believe that what we're doing is well worth it - the folk school was started as a venture to keep this river of knowledge going but also to help financially support those that teach these things.
With that being said, we're announcing a new type of discount to help bridge this gap. This early bird discount will essentially help get classes to their minimum enrollment which is the primary goal. We want to see these classes happen!
We will be announcing more early bird discounts as time goes on so keep an eye out. Please reach out if you have any questions!
