This is Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW)! DVRW encourages people with disabilities to advocate for and learn about their right to vote. DVRW includes voter registration, educational events, and forums with candidates on disability issues.

KUCDD would like to thank team members Ryan Henley and Lucy Somers for helping support the editing process on the second edition of the Handbook of Research-Based Practices for Educating Students with Intellectual Disability. KUCDD Director Karrie Shogren, Associate Director Evan Dean, Assistant Researcher Brad Linnenkamp, and University of Virginia Associate Professor LaRon Scott, were the lead editors on the book that emphasizes research-based practices across the life course, from early childhood supports through the transition to adulthood. According to the National Survey on Health and Disability (NSHD), 26.2% of people who do not work for pay report not having reliable transportation. We need to improve the transportation situation for people not working for pay so that they can get the transportation they need. According to the National Survey on Health and Disability (NSHD), 21% of people living in rural areas report not having reliable transportation. We need to improve the transportation situation for people living in rural areas so that they can get the transportation they need.
